Pancake rewards

Took my calc final today. Last one. Freshman year over. Year went by so incredibly fast.
No, I have not lost my ability to speak. Those sentence fragments represent not only the perpetually discombobulated state of my mind during finals, but also my utter shock that freshman year passed this quickly. Never before has a year of my life felt so short. Now I know why they say college is the best time of your life as well as the period of your life that leaves you the quickest. So bittersweet.
Sentimentality aside, the student center offers a free pancake “breakfast” every finals week (it happens at 11pm, which is even later than brinner). As most of us know, free food = epitome of college. The food isn’t top-notch quality by any means, but, y’know, it’s free. And when you’re so hungry that you’re willing to eat burritos out of the trash can, any food is good food. (Don’t worry, I’m not speaking from personal experience. I’m speaking from having seen someone else do it…) These pancakes came at such a good time, though. God knows I needed a reward for suffering through finals, even if I caused most of that suffering through my questionable study habits.
I’m trying to get back into the habit of capturing culinary masterpieces (and culinary not-so-masterpieces, I suppose, as in this case) and offering food porn on this blog, so keep your eyes peeled.
P.S. I stumbled upon a new food blog and a new inspirational haven! Check out the featured links in the sidebar. These chocolate banana crepes look heavenly. And I love this quote by Hemingway. What a man.
Mmm, pancakes! In Chinese we have a saying that “e du zi” (or goose stomach) is the tastiest thing in the world – because “e du zi” also happens to mean “hungry stomach”. Haha congrats on finishing your finals! I just completed my freshman year, too… of high school!
