Cooking

This was my portion of the culmination of a cooking class with my sorority sisters. We trekked to a nearby cooking school, where the owners split us up into five groups and unleashed us in the spacious kitchen to make five different dishes: flatbread, meat skewers, frittata, pita & hummus, and brownie sundaes for dessert). We then ate the fruit of our hard work buffet style. My favorite was the flatbread (which my group made, but my unbiased opinion is the same as my biased one!), closely followed by the frittata.
Each group also made spritzer from juice, fruit, syrup, and Pellegrino, but that was gone waaaay before dinner started. Thus, we had to make do with iced tea (which I think is disgusting).
It was all so. good. I went for seconds and later gorged myself on dessert. And then I didn’t feel so well. It seems that I often overestimate my appetite and the capacity of my stomach, which leads to my hatred for buffet-style dining and its encouragement of overeating. But whatevs. No regrets when it comes to food!
Oh my god. That looks so. damn. good. Especially the flatbread… Mmm I would definitely be the most attracted to that!
(I agree, frittata looks good too!
)
So you take cooking classes with your sorority sisters in college? What college do you go to? Where’s the cooking class?
I found your blog through Clem, by the way. She mentioned your lovely food photography and I was smitten in an instant!
I love your blog. Especially the posts about food!

Hey Wei-Wei! We don’t actually take cooking classes; this was just a one-time fun event we planned. I go to school in the greater Chicago area, so there are lots of cooking schools and whatnot around, and we just walked to one nearby.
And thanks for your lovely comment! I usually take better food pictures, I promise, but I didn’t have my camera on hand and had to take a picture with my not-so-high-quality phone camera
Ooohh. That flatbread does sound delicious! I am biased though, as I love anything with prosciutto in it
The one thing that stands out here is pita chips and hummus. I have never had either of those, and I feel like I really should, because EVERYONE else seems to have had them. So I’m like OMG I am missing out on a culinary phenomenon. D:
Mmm, that looks good! I love pita chips and hummus. And it sounds like lots of fun, taking a cooking class with friends! I should suggest it to some of mine…
MMM How was the hummus? I love hummus! I’ve been meaning to join a cooking class. I need to learn how to cook.
Oh, the hummus was lovely as well. It just doesn’t make for a hearty meal, y’know? Trust me, though, it was hard for me to pick a favorite dish because everything was so good. I would love to join a cooking class as well — in fact, I kind of want to go to culinary school, but it’s so expensive!
