Broomball

Wow. It’s been a while. How does one go about writing a blog post again? I feel like I should lure you all (the two people that might be reading this, kudos to you) in with pretty pictures or something, but sadly, I have none. That will change, though, after spring break when I’m reunited with my camera. We’ll totally be faithful to each other and never leave each other’s side after the reunion.
Anyway. College, as you all know, is chock full of new experiences. One of those new experiences was broomball for me (and it should be for you, too!). It happened two days ago. A friend of mine invited me to a broomball tournament that was happening through her church, and I went and had a BLAST. I’ve always loved floor hockey (not so much field hockey and ice hockey — the ball doesn’t move on grass, and my skating skills are mediocre at best), and broomball is basically floor hockey on ice. Or ice hockey without the skates.
I mistakenly thought the ice would be far more slippery at first, so that people would be falling left and right and all over the place, but the ice was pretty rough, so it wasn’t like we couldn’t even move two feet for fear of falling. Most people still fell at least once, though, including me. I have small-ish blue bruises on both knees (why did I just write “news”?) and a giant one that’s still red on my right knee to show for it. Totally worth it, if you ask me.
Bottom line: Broomball — you should try it. Blogging — I will get back into the swing of things. Soonish.
I sometimes envy the pastimes of people who live where snow is a yearly occurrence — broomball (particularly, the broom aspect) sounds hilariously fun. I must learn to move semi-well on ice, and try this game out!
I’ve heard of broomball before but I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone that’s played it! Seems like ice sports are now all the rage these days, with it being, well, winter and the fact that the Winter Olympics just wrapped up
Haha you said two people and there are two comments! (now three)
I’ve never actually watched any form of hockey, but I’ve always wanted to. And I haven’t fallen on ice in four or five years so broomball sounds fun
The ball not moving in field hockey is so frustrating! xD
My school has an intramural game like broomball, but in the gym. (Since we don’t have a rink in our school.)
I always make the most random typos with words that start with kn or n
I haven’t actually heard of Broomball (I almost ended up typing Boomball) before. We don’t have Winter here so any sports or games that’s ice related are usually unheard of.
Hm, I’ve never heard of broomball. I doubt I’ll be trying it any time soon since I don’t know how to skate and I suck at sports.
