Snow sculptures

Internet, Photos | February 6, 2010

Last Saturday, I saw life-size snow and ice sculptures for the first time at “Snow Days in Chicago.” It obviously wasn’t a life-altering event, but it was a “first” nevertheless, no matter how mundane:

This one was my favorite, but it wasn’t in the sculpture contest — it was sponsored by Cuties Clementines, which are only the best things ever.

These two tied for my second favorite. The “Bug’s Life” one looks better, but I’ve always liked clocks and time symbolism.

Chi-town!

After seeing all the sculptures, my friends and I watched part of an amateur snowboarding contest (one snowboarder wiped out every time because he needed to pull up his pants — they were down to his knees! I would’ve probably sympathized with him more if he weren’t practically mooning us), ate Cuties (!!), and then headed over to chat at an Italian café. They didn’t have tiramisu, which was highly upsetting.

The night before, all the fraternities came to the sorority quad on campus for serenading (they sang to us and handed out roses, and we sang back), followed by eating and dancing the night away (each sorority was paired up with a frat). If any of you were wondering, I’m going to go through with initiation and officially join my sorority. Last night we had a retreat/sleepover, which made me further realize how much I love those girls.

So other than that, I’ve been going to classes, working, sleeping, shoveling food into my mouth, etc.

P.S. Doppelgänger week on Facebook is annoying! Half the people who change their profile pictures don’t look anything like the celebrity they think they look like. And I don’t have a doppelgänger, sadly. MyHeritage told me my best match was Gabrielle Union. She’s black. I’m Asian. Does anyone else see the problem here?

Snow/ice sculptures are sooo cool. Of the ones in your post, the first one is my favourite, too!

The sorority sounds like it’s going to turn out to be super fun!

Luckily the doppelgänger thing isn’t happening in my ~circle of friends~ :P

I’m glad the sorority is working out for you! I remember you were a bit unsure about it, so it’s good that it’s going well. :)

MyHeritage.com tells me that my best match is Liv Tyler, which I’ve heard in real life too. I haven’t made her my profile picture, though. :P

Every time I see photos of snow sculptures, I wish I lived in the Northern Hemisphere. I love the details on the sculptures, especially the zipper on the Cuties Clementines. Though, it makes me wonder how cold it gets for the sculptures to be able to stand!

It’s good to hear that you’re giving the sorority a try and I hope it turns out to be an enriching experience for you :)

And MyHeritage told me my best match was a black actress too. And I’m Asian, too! *confused*

Wow I’ve never seen anything like that before! Great photos. I wish they’d do something like that in my city!

I’ve always wanted to join a sorority, so good luck and have fun!
