Shopper’s guilt

Photos, Style & Shopping | December 19, 2009

I don’t know about you guys, but I suffer from intense shopper’s guilt due to a combination of my cheapness (or frugality, if you want to be euphemistic) and my poor bargain-shopping skills. I always try to look for bargains, but the fact is, I will never be as amazing a bargain shopper as my mother.

Check out some of the stuff she bought for me:

  • Little brown dress, $5.07, originally $29.00
  • Little magenta dress, $3.99, originally $24.99
  • Patterned tank top, $3.99, originally $28.00
  • Checkered tank top, $3.99, originally $34.00
  • Khaki short shorts, $3.99, originally $24.99
  • Madras short shorts, $3.99, originally $24.99
  • Jean short shorts, $3.99, originally $34.00

The Vera Wang Princess was the only thing I bought for myself, and that was, um… $57 (I’m almost ashamed to admit this). I had a $15 coupon, but I stupidly let it expire. In my defense, though, the perfume came with the body lotion for free, so I couldn’t resist! Obviously I’m an impulsive shopper who clearly didn’t inherit my mom’s shopping skillz.

OMG. Your mom is my hero, seriously. (Where, may I ask, are those clothes from?! I wanna shop there!) I’m much more like you. The second my friend and I started shopping together, we’d go on full out blasts and spend around $100 once every month or every two months. It could be worse, but I’d feel so awful later that I eventually stopped letting myself bring more than $50 each time…
(Admittedly, a lot of the money was spent on stuff at fan merchandise shops, but a lot was also spent on clothes)

It’s just a normal department store (Macy’s) — I don’t often shop there, but my mom does because she’s always clipping coupons from their catalogs.

And, not that I’m encouraging a shopping addiction, but $100 every month or two is not much at all :p

I’m the same way! I try to be frugal, but I hate waiting for sales and I always lose coupons or let them expire. My mother is the opposite. It’s like she always knows when a sale is going to happen. Your mother is amazing, though. All that for under $30 bucks? I applaud her!
