Favorite Halloween costumes

I’m not exactly a big fan of Halloween. First of all, candy doesn’t appeal to me like it does to a lot of people. You’ll probably never see me enjoying Smarties, Sweet Tarts, candy corn, gumballs, Jawbreakers, Twizzlers, or anything along those lines. I like chocolate every once in a while, but I’d rather have it or cocoa in the form of some type of dessert (tiramisu, anyone?!). Also, I’m the lamest person when it comes to Halloween costumes. I’ve nearly always been a witch in the past, and this year all I did was borrow a beret and become a half-assed French person. I’d like to dress up and all, but I just never put in the effort.

At this point, you’re probably thinking I’m the weirdest person in the world, but that’s totally okay. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll get with it next year and come up with an amazing costume idea and actually carry it out.

In the meanwhile, I’ve been sticking to appreciating other people’s costumes. Here are some of my favorites from this year:

• Lady GaGa – Not exactly the most creative idea in the world (how many Lady Gagas did you guys see this Halloween?), but her style is perfect for Halloween. Plus, I just love her.
• Roe v. Wade – One guy was a rower, and he carried a paddle; the other was Wade, and he had a blue shirt and water boots on. They had signs saying “Roe” and “Wade.” I thought it was pretty genius.
• Food – I love it when people dress up as food… of any type, really, as long as it looks good. (Could that have to do with my love for food in general?) For example, I saw some pretty awesome bananas, carrots, and lettuce this year.
