Risk

Can you believe that I’d never played Risk until last night? It’s true. I stayed in for the first Friday night in a while and hung out with my floormates in the lounge. It made me realize (or remember, rather) that I enjoy spending time with a small group of friends so much more than party hopping. Back in high school, there were hardly any good parties to go to, so I usually just hung out with my group of friends. Last night made me realize how much I miss that. Most of the time, I’d much rather hang out and get to know people than go to a bunch of random, impersonal parties where we all won’t remember each other the next day anyway. (Obviously, I mean we won’t remember each other because of the sheer number of people there, not because of any other reason… *ahem, shifty eyes*.)
So yeah. I learned what a fun game Risk is! I’m yellow in the picture above. Please notice that I conquered North and South America and was getting ready to tear through Asia. I’m clearly awesome and ready to be queen of the world. (Actually, it was probably beginner’s luck, but oh well.)

I leave you with a random picture I took on campus because the leaves were just sooo gorgeous. I hope you all are having a great weekend!
I prefer hanging out with my group of friends too, mostly for your reasons, and also because I’m just awful at small talk. Whenever I’ve played Risk, it’s always with the girls, ’cause the guys have this rivalry going and insist on besting each other — rather hilarious to watch, actually!
That photo is gorgeous! At first, I thought the tree and the wall were one awesome mural. Autumn is so beautiful.
Haha, I actually played Risk with a bunch of guys (there were only two girls, and I was one of them), which I think made it more fun because they were hilariously competitive!
Risk is an awesome game! I use to spend hours playing a computer version!
wow. i love that photo you took of the autumn leaves at your campus… it’s so beautiful! i really like the stunning colours.

hmmm. risk must be an american game, because where i live (australia) they don’t have it.
Yes, I can actually believe that because I’ve not heard about the game till I read your post. You’re not the only one.
The photo is gorgeous by the way. I wish we had different seasons in Singapore. I’m sure such a gorgeous view will brighten up your mood! For now, I shall just enjoy looking at the different photographs of how Autumn is like in different countries.
Yeah, I know a guy from Singapore, and he was going around taking pictures and being tourist-y because he hadn’t experienced the leaves changing color in Singapore. :p
Haha, I HATE Risk! I think I’m the only one that does, though. It just takes such a long time to play and it gets boring after a while, at least to me.
Argh, I despise Risk. I played it with my brother last year. I don’t know if it was the game itself or some stuff that happened with my uncle’s drunk neighbour DURING the game, but I don’t think I ever want to play it again.
My strategy was to take over Australia, because Josh told me to. However, I failed.
I’ve always preferred the small-group setting to big parties, mostly because 1) you actually know the people, and 2) you can actually hear yourself/others talk and have a conversation.
Game nights are the best! I’ve actually never played Risk either, but it’s definitely one of those games I know I’d like. Maybe one of these days, soon, before I start work and turn into a workaholic =/
I’ve never played Risk before, but it sounds like a lot of fun and I feel like I’d enjoy it! Gorgeous photo, where is your campus?
Chicago!
