I spent $210 on…

Ugg footwear. No, really. I decided that the classic tall boots (in chestnut) would probably prove instrumental in combatting the upcoming Chicago winter, and since I could get the women’s tasmina (in plum) on sale with the boots, I did.
Y’know, I don’t think Uggs are ugly (don’t even compare them to Crocs), so I’m not ashamed, but feel free to tell me how stupid you think I am.
Now all I need is a cute pair of rain boots, but after all the rain boots I’ve seen, I’m not sure “cute” and “rain boots” should even go in the same sentence.
P.S. This is my last night before I move… right after I finish typing this, I’m going to pack up my laptop, do some last-minute things, and then go out to ice cream to see my friends (the ones who aren’t already off to college) one last time before I move to Chicago tomorrow! How bittersweet.
You do realise that they are going to get soaked when it rains, and that you would’ve been better off with a pair of boots that doesn’t act like a sponge?
Well, obviously I’m not going to wear them in the rain — the Uggs for when it gets cold in Chicago. That’s why I said I still needed a pair of rain boots…
Uggs? No comment.
Rain boots are totally cute! Get yellow ones
For shame Meg, for shame.
Uggs! I find them too gross (imagine all the sweat that seeps into the inside and the gunk that seeps in from the outside…) to wear outside, so I insist on only wearing them to warm my feet at home. I don’t own any rainboots, but if I had to buy some, I’d likely end up with Burberry ones? They’re more stylish than the rest I see.
The only cute rain boots I’ve found have been a Burberry pair, but they cost something like $300.
I love rain boots! Definitely not a fan of Uggs, but rain boots are so cute. Sometimes I wear mine even when it’s not raining.
Oh, few people wear boots in my country, much less rain boots. The weather is too hot.
I wish I’ve the chance.
I secretly think Ugg boots are the best, and not ugly at all.
Good on you!
I don’t have Uggs, but I do own two pairs of Emus, which are essentially the same thing. They’re REALLY REALLY warm, and in Canada, that’s the only thing that matters in the winter.
I’m one of those people who hates change, so I know I’ll definitely cry a lot before heading off to uni.
Aww, just reading that last paragraph made me really sad about moving away.
I may not be a fan of Uggs myself, but I do have to tell you, just wearing them isn’t what should get weird looks. No, I live in Ottawa and have to tell you the strange Uggs phenomena doesn’t happen when you wear them in the winter when it snows. Nope, it’s during spring, when the girls of Ottawa decide that the look is oversized sweater, shorts and Ugg boots. Out in the snow! That’s just confusion right there
Other than that, your last few days before heading to college sound a lot like mine. Crazy shopping, rushing out to see people one last time, and then one last big haul.
Hope things go well
There’s nothing shameful about ugg boots. I tend to wear them all winter.
Y
Yes, I mean literally. Last winter I even wore them to the office and changes into heels once I’m there much to the amusement of the people I work with.
Maybe you need to be in a rainy climate to find cute rain boots? I found adorable ones with daisies on them in Berkeley, California.
I’m from Chicago, and I can tell you EVERY girl in Chicago wears Uggs. They definitely go a long way in the bitterly cold winters!!
They’ll def be warm… but $210 is a LOT
Maybe I’m weird…I don’t mind Uggs. I think they’re overrated but I can see the appeal. Warmth and comfyness…that is a lot of money though
While I’m usually against this type of thing on so many levels, I don’t mind this style of Ugg boot. I have a similar knock-off pair. They’re REALLY warm and that’s all that matters in my mind. When it’s a bajillion degrees below zero, I care more about having warm feet than pretty feet.
